Robert Beeson was the eldest son of Robert and Nellie Beeson, of 33, Moss Street, Derby, and was aged about 20 when he was killed by a sniper at the Boar's Head, Richebourg-St. Vaast. He had previously been employed as a jam maker and, later, as a labourer with the Midland Railway at Derby station. He had served in the Territorials since 1912.
